SSS Membership Benefits
So many services are offered through Student Support Services and we don’t want you to miss out on your opportunity to be involved this year! We are so excited that you are a part of Student Support Services, where your success begins, and are eager to start working with you! Take a moment to read over the different programs we have going on and be sure to ask your SSS Success Coach for more details.
Academic Support
To ensure that our participants are academically successful, SSS participants and their success coach meet three times a semester during which advisors and participants discuss an individual success plan outlining academic, personal, financial, and career/graduation goals. Although it is best to check with individual and specific offices, SSS success coaches are also available to answer questions pertaining to registration, financial aid, scholarships, campus jobs, etc.
One-on-One Tutoring
Our most popular service, one-on-one tutoring is made available to all our participants in many of the core subjects taught at Texas State. Click here for a complete listing of tutored subjects. Please keep in mind that these subjects change from semester to semester so please check back with us for an updated list. Tutoring is based on a first-come-first-serve basis, meaning that the earlier you turn your tutor request form in, the earlier you can be placed with a tutor.
SSS Study Buddies
As a perk for our junior and senior members who are taking upper level courses, we now offer SSS STUDY BUDDIES! Study Buddies can exchange information and plan to meet in the SSS office during regular hours and study for upcoming exams together or review notes from a recent lecture. Either way, this is definitely a helpful resource when SSS is not able to provide tutoring for your upper level courses. Sign up today on the white board in the tutoring area to find a study buddy who is also taking the same classes you are! Click here to download the study session form.

Graduate School Preparation
The day will come when you will start applying to graduate schools and when that day comes SSS will be there to help you every step of the way! Each year we visit graduate school fairs at neighboring schools with the intention that you have the opportunity to visit with representatives from all around the world and learn about their graduate school programs. We also host a graduate school workshop and panel discussion each spring semester for all students. This is a great opportunity for those who are beginning their graduate school application process to review the essential information that is pertinent to the graduate school experience. You also have the opportunity to ask questions of the panel members who are current Texas State graduate students in various programs. We also provide assistance in purchasing admission test preparation books for the Graduate Record Exam (GRE) and the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) as well as other professional school entrance exams. Ask the SSS staff for more details.
