Fundamental Resources Exceeding your Expectations
F*R*E*E* Services
One-on-One Tutoring
Our most popular service, one-on-one tutoring is made available to all our participants in many of the core subjects taught at Texas State. Click here for a complete listing of tutored subjects. Please keep in mind that these subjects change from semester to semester so please check back with us for an updated list. Tutoring is based on a first-come-first-serve basis, meaning that the earlier you turn your tutor request form in, the earlier you can be placed with a tutor.
Academic Support
To ensure that our participants are academically successful, SSS participants and their success coach meet three times a semester during which advisors and participants discuss an individual success plan outlining academic, personal, financial, and career/graduation goals. Although it is best to check with individual and specific offices, SSS success coaches are also available to answer questions pertaining to registration, financial aid, scholarships, campus jobs, etc.
Workshops for College Success
Held once or twice a week during each long semester, SSS provides academic support workshops as well as life enrichment workshops which teach invaluable lessons on various topics that will make you a successful college student! Click here for more information on workshops.
Cultural Enrichment Activities
SSS strives to build a learning community where students from diverse backgrounds have opportunities to enjoy the diversity of Texas State University. Students are encouraged to attend social and cultural activities so that SSS students can meet other students and provide encouragement and support. Please check back for more information or visit the SSS office for more information on upcoming cultural trips.
Peer Mentoring Program
A new program in SSS, the mentoring program provides the opportunity active SSS participants to mentor freshmen and transfer students who are new to Texas State as well as Student Support Services. Mentors and their mentee will have the opportunity to get to know each other through SSS events, mentoring programs, and other structured events. Check back for more information on becoming a SSS peer mentor or being mentored.
Scholarships
Each fall semester eligible freshman and sophomore students can compete in our Grant Aid Scholarship. Check back for more information.
